Seafarer Training in Ireland
The National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI) is the first third level college in the country to be built under the Government’s Public-Private Partnership scheme. A Public-Private Partnership (PPP) is a partnership between the public and private sector for the purpose of delivering a project or service traditionally provided by the public sector.
The NMCI offers degree courses in Nautical Science and Marine and Plant Engineering and a Certificate in Navigational Studies (Seamanship) which will suit school leavers and those with experience of working aboard merchant ships or fishing vessels.
Professional seafarers seeking further training are also catered for with short courses and preparatory courses for the Certificates of Competency at sea.
